I have traveled a lot and used many travel guide books. The author does an excellent job of organizing the traveler's journey. The content is easy to read and is integrated; where to go? why go there? what to see? how to get there? and finally, how to wonder aound... learn about the locals, about the less known places, and about the culture. For me, the bottom line, is the reader-friendly organization of the content that makes all the difference. This book stands apart and above other travel guides on London. It is chock-full of helpful ways to see London and make the best use of limited time and budget.
I like the fact that it does not provide oerwhelming city history, but rather brief description of places of interest making it easy to choose where to go and what to see. A quick, concise tour guide small and light enough to carry with you while you explore the city of London.
This guide lets you see as much as possible in each section of London. Each chapter is a "day" that lists all the stops you should make in an area, including some off-the-wall or semi-hidden places. You can do the days in any order you'd like, of course.
Given London's history, size, and density of attractions, a guide book is really a necessity. Who had time to wing it? Most of the listings include web addresses so you can get up-to-date info on hours and ticket prices. I'm knocking off one star for the lack of maps, but this may not be an issue for someone who is traveling with a smartphone or tablet as they can look at maps online. It's a handy book.
